Take My Mac

Have an old Apple product you want to sell? Take My Mac is the site for you – they buy new, used, or broken Apple products. Worth a look and maybe you’ll get a few bucks out of that iPod paperweight on your desk.

Six Reasons Why You Are Not Fulfilling Your Potential
http://www.business-strategy-innovation.com/wordpress/2010/08/six-reasons-why-you-are-not-fulfilling-your-potential/
A great list of items that might be stopping you from achieving all that you are capable. I know that all of the items listed here are at least partially true for me.

Top 10 Things I Learned Going From Teaching Students to “Teaching” Technology Integration
http://edutechintegration.blogspot.com/2010/08/top-10-things-i-learned-going-from.html
Another good list that I ran across today. The 10 items listed, numbers 5 and 7 are the two that stood out to me. Twitter is a great learning tool for teachers and teachers don’t have to have a ‘title’ to tell others about new technology they can use in their classrooms.

What I Did Over Summer Break
http://punditkitchen.com/2010/08/23/political-pictures-summer-break/
This cartoon, I’m afraid, hits the nail on the head for some of our students out there. I currently teach computer classes through the unemployment offices and I’ve seen the kids in and out of the office and heard many of their stories. Many of us have never had to deal with some of the things our students must deal with on a daily basis. Keep this in mind the next time Susie doesn’t have her homework.

Apple starts rejecting iPhone apps that require registration to work
http://www.downloadsquad.com/2010/08/23/apple-starts-rejecting-iphone-apps-that-require-registration-to/
Is this the beginning of another purge from the App Store? There are many apps that require registration to use – and they make sense, how else are you going to access your data from the web on your computer?

Teachers: 10 Reasons Students are Tuning You Out

I’ve seen and sat in classes where teachers hit many of the points on this list (not a good thing). Knowing some of these things can help teachers avoid them and keep their students tuned in.

10 Things Teachers Should Unlearn…
http://whatedsaid.wordpress.com/2010/08/19/10-things-teachers-should-unlearn/
Today is a day of top 10 lists. This list made me think about the things I thought/currently think about teaching. I would agree with the author that these are areas that teachers need to make changes in. The video of Yoda and Luke is a nice addition as well.
